Vitamin D3

Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) belongs to the group of fat-soluble vitamins and is one of the most important forms in the group of vitamins D. Vitamin D3 is produced by the skin when it´s exposed to direct sunlight. During the months with little sunshine, its intake can be increased with food supplements. A small amount of vitamin D3 is in fish oil, liver or egg yolk. The Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic (in 2020) recommends daily doses of 1,000–2,000 IU of vitamin D3 for adults, pregnant women or the elderly who need a higher supply of vitamin D.
